Have you ever used an O2 Kit before? If not, you should learn so that you could save someone’s life.
If you’ve been reading this blog for any time you know that I love learning new things. I have just completed my IDC and IE with Florida Keys Dive Centre and as part of their training, they offer any students who complete the eLearning portion of the IDC the possibility to come back and complete the instructor rating for Enriched Air Nitrox and O2 Provider.
I’ve discussed Enriched Air Nitrox before. So I’ll talk more about the O2 Provider.
The O2 Provider is a great substitute for exercise 9 on the Rescue Diver course. Exercise 9 entails 4 skills.
- Be able to assemble and disassemble the oxygen unit
- Non-Rebreather Mask Use for a Breathing Diver
- Demand Inhalator Valve Use for a Breathing Diver
- Pocket Mask Use with Oxygen for a Nonbreathing Diver
These are the same skills that are covered in the O2 Provider course. So when you are doing your Rescue Course ask your instructor include the O2 Provider Speciality. I know I will be including it in my rescue courses.
So today I completed these two courses and I am now able to train and certify divers in both these specialties.
