An unfortunate death

Doc Deep AKA Guy Garman on a deep dive in 2014

You might have read in the news recently about Guy Garman who died on an attempt a world record depth attempt to 1200ft.

I have written about record attempts before and I really don’t approve of them. There is nothing to be gained and they seem to reek of pure ego. It is unfortunate that died. Hopefully this will put an end to this sort of thing. Going deep just for the sake of it is not cool. I was always taught that you never make depth the goal of the dive. There are many things that I could say about this record attempt but others have said it better than me so I will point you in their direction and suggest that you give them a read.
