I was disappointed when I watched this program. At first I thought it was going to be about finding sharks and cataloguing them, boy was I wrong. This is a program that is glamorising and promoting the killing of sharks.

The killing of sharks!!!! Why do we need to kill them? There is no reason. Yes they do kill a small number of us a year, but more people die from vending machine accidents and from cows than are killed by sharks.

There is no educational or scientific value to the program. It is 5 boats going out to kill as many mako, thresher and porbeagle sharks as they can find. These sharks have been listed as vulnerable by the International Union for Conservation of Nature.

I am sad that NBC have decided to make this program. If you agree that killing sharks should not be glamorised and that they should stop this program please sign the petition at change.org and join the Facebook page.

So far the petition has managed to convince several companies to stop advertising on NBC Shark Hunters. Hopefully it will be successful and we can stop this senseless killing.
